Bus Driver Trainee Program

By April 9, 2019 No Comments

The Cedar Bus Co. is committed to its employee’s future and provides them with all the necessary training to kick start their career. For that reason, The Cedar Bus Co. created the Bus Driver Trainee Program. The Bus Driver Trainee Program is offered to individuals who would like to become drivers but need to obtain their Class C Certified Driver’s License (CDL).

This program can be completed in as little as four weeks, and most importantly is paid training.

Safety is The Cedar Bus Co.’s top priority and it’s main focus throughout the training process. During the first week, the trainee will be given the necessary study materials and training to pass the CDL written exam. Once that is completed, the Bus Driver Trainee will be paired with a driver to shadow. This gives the trainee the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the Bus Driver’s job duties, while gaining experience on different routes. The individual will be given training on how to properly secure wheelchairs, and a check list that teaches them how to perform vehicle checks. Upon completion of the program, trainees become drivers and are given their own scheduled routes.

With the training program we provide, we have a 97% pass rate on the CDL road test.

The Cedar Bus Co. is a family run company that cares about the future of their employees and ensure they have all the necessary resources to be successful in achieving their career goals. The driver trainee program encompasses this goal by creating a program that allows people to pursue their goal of getting their CDL at no cost to them. There are new individuals starting the Driver Trainee Program each week. With it’s reach across seven different locations throughout New York State, there are an average of 100 individuals who start the program every year. Every member of the program will obtain their class C CDL and will be given a full-time driving position with our company. We pride ourselves in our commitment to the communities we serve by giving people opportunities for a career path that they previously did not have.

We have opportunities throughout New York State for individuals interested in the program located in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Hamburg, Fredonia, Rochester, Canandaigua, and Utica. Anyone that is at least 18 years of age, with a clean NYS driver’s license, can pass a background check, and DOT medical exam with drug screening is eligible to apply.
